Temporary fencing hire: your top 3 questions answered

Orange Hire is a leading provider of temporary fencing hire in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and regional centres. Because of this, we often get asked questions about temporary fencing rental and how to get the best deal.

Here are our customers’ top 3 questions when it comes to booking temporary fence hire.

1. How much does temporary fencing cost?

This is the big question, but it’s tricky to answer without knowing a few details. Some things that might influence your temporary fence hire quote include:

• How long you’re hiring temporary fencing for
• How much fencing you need
• Where your site is, whether it is metro or regional – regional or rural centres can incur a greater shipping cost
• How much bracing you need: bracing keeps the fence secure and is vital in windy or exposed areas
• Whether you need any accessories like vehicle gates or handrails

The price of temporary fencing hire can vary depending on the above factors, but in general the longer you hire the more cost effective it is. That’s because the few costs that naturally come along with hire – insurance, delivery, damage waivers and your time and energy to install the fence – can be spread over a longer period of time.

These prices are all itemised on your quote so there are no hidden charges or fees. As for the fencing itself, this consists of the panel, coupler or bracket, foot and bracing. The fencing is usually calculated and quoted as one complete package based on how much fencing you want to hire.

This leads us to the next question…

2. How do I work out how much temporary fencing I need?

Our temporary fencing panels are 2.6 metres long x 2.1 metres high. If you know the overall length or the perimeter measurement of the site you want to fence, simply divide it by 2.6 and round this up to the nearest whole number.

For example, a 50 metre long site frontage divided by 2.6m long panels = 19.2, so hiring 20 panels is a safe bet. We’ll make sure we include the right number of fence feet and couplers to suit, but let us know if you’d like bracing which is optional.

3. Where can I hire large quantities of temporary fencing?

Orange Hire specialises in equipment, barrier and fencing hire to the civil and infrastructure sectors, meaning we’ve always got plenty of stock.

If you’re looking for temporary fencing for long term dry hire, we can help with cost-effective pricing on large hire quantities and flexible terms that help you adapt to your changing site needs.
